Club treasurer wins Victorian Skeet Title.
I'm sure all members will join with me in congratulating Lorraine Hughes for her recent win in the Victorian Ladies' Skeet Competition.
Sometimes we may take it for granted, but we are privileged in having several world-class shooters, such as Lorraine, as members of our club.
Well done Lorraine.

5 Stand Sporting Practise Comes To CCTC

5 stand practise to commence 19th Feb.
Due to popular demand from the members of CCTC, we are going to commence a regular 5 stand sporting practice on the 3rd Saturday afternoon of each month (commencing this Saturday 19th February) at 1.00pm.
Skeet and DTL practice will continue to be available on the 3rd Saturday afternoon (as well as the 1st and 2nd Saturday afternoons).
We are looking to progress towards being open for practice on every Saturday afternoon BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP to get this going. We have 12 or so people who help out regularly on a rota basis but we need additional help if practice is to open every weekend. Please put your name forward for a regular spot, it is good fun and it will improve your shooting. (you do not have to be an experienced shooter to help).
Please support your club during 2011 to allow us to continue to grow our club as one of the best multi-discipline clay target clubs in Queensland.
Memberships Reach 500!!
PermalinkMonday 14th February, 2011
We’re pleased to announce that we recently broke the 500 members mark.
This milestone was reached under the auspices of outgoing president Nigel Hughes. I’m sure all club members will recognise the fantastic work that Nigel (and his committee) has done during his time as president.
As a token of the club’s appreciation, Nigel was awarded membership number 500 to mark this awesome achievment.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to continue Nigel’s work then get you can stand for president or other committee positions at the AGM on March 27th. You should have received nomination forms in the mail recently but if not please talk to a committee member or pick one up from the clubhouse.
Queensland shooters irate at delays with new computerised licensing system

Big delays in new licensing system.
From the Courier Mail, 7th Feb 2011:
THOUSANDS of shooters are furious they can’t get firearm permits because of problems with a $6 million computer system introduced by the State Government to “streamline” processing.
Queensland Police Service implemented the Weapons Licensing Management System in late November with a switch to an online service expected to save $7.5 million in staff “efficiencies” over five years.
After more than two months, shooters and dealers said it was still not working. Delays have led to staff lay-offs and now threaten to send businesses to the wall.
The state’s largest firearm dealer, the Qld Gun Exchange in East Brisbane, has 800 customers waiting for permits and more than $800,000 worth of stock in limbo.
“Customers can’t collect their guns unless they have a permit and we can’t get paid until they collect their guns,” owner Dave Augur told The Courier-Mail.
“We have had to put off seven of our 24 staff and things are looking pretty grim.”
Mr Augur said Permit to Acquire applications for those in the system and seeking extra firearms used to take two weeks to gain approval. This had blown out to months.
More than 100,000 firearms are registered to Queensland sporting shooters, hunters, professional shooters, farmers and security companies.
Shooters Union of Queensland president Graham Park said firearm owners were angry they had been hit with a 150 per cent fee rise and told changes would improve the process.
“We were initially very supportive,” Mr Park said. “But they have taken our money and not delivered on their promise of greater efficiency. This backlog is unacceptable.”
Mr Park said the old process of collecting an application from police and faxing or mailing it to the Weapons Licensing Branch usually got a result in about a week.
Now, it could take two months “if you were lucky”.
QPS admitted there had been teething problems with “data migration” and additional staff had been assigned to “catch-up”. A spokeswoman said there were about 4000 Permit to Acquire applications to be processed.
“Extra staff and extended work hours are being implemented to reduce the delays and to have applications processed as quickly as possible,” she said.
“It is anticipated that the applications will be within standard tolerances by March.”
New Website Is Here!

As you can see our new website is up and running.
One of our members, Paul Brian who is a professional web developer, kindly volunteered to design and develop a brand new website and it was an offer we couldn’t refuse.
We’d like to thank Geoff our previous website provider for all his hard work over the years, but we felt it was better for all concerned if we could have a resource located within in the club for future web needs.
Paul would like to remind you that he is available for any website design and development you need, from simple brochure sites to online shop sites, at very reasonable prices. He can also arrange hosting and domain registration too so talk to Paul today and get a website for your business.
